FERN apprenticeships are designed for aspiring farmers who intend to begin diversified sustainable farming operations in the desert Southwest. Apprentices are placed on host farms for periods of 6 to 12 months, where they receive hands-on training in all areas of production specific to the host farm. Apprentices develop a unique one-on-one relationship with an established farmer mentor, acquiring experience in daily field operations and developing important entrepreneurial skills necessary in running a commercial sustainable farm.
We are currently working to develop apprenticeship opportunities for the 2016 season. Please sign up for our newsletter to be alerted when the apprenticeship application materials are available.
